Ambyon

Caregivers trusted support

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Eindhoven (with hybrid options)
Employment: Full-time

Introduction

At Ambyon, we develop robotic solutions that relieve healthcare professionals, giving them more time for actual patient care. Our medication robot has successfully completed promising pilots, such as at Elkerliek Hospital, and is already being recognized as a valuable colleague that takes over repetitive and logistical tasks. In doing so, we not only contribute to more efficient processes but also to job satisfaction and the overall quality of care.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in translating innovative designs into production-ready systems. You will ensure that our robots are technically robust, scalable, and reliable, directly contributing to the scaling of human-centered healthcare robotics in the Netherlands and beyond.

About Ambyon

Ambyon is an innovative deeptech start-up developing robotics to make the healthcare sector future-proof. We believe that technology should not replace people, but support them. Our culture is entrepreneurial, multidisciplinary, and forward-looking. Together with our partners and customers, we develop solutions that not only excel technically but also drive sustainable progress.

At Ambyon, you will have the freedom to use your talents, realize new ideas, and grow in an environment that values technical excellence. And you will do so from Eindhoven, one of the most innovative high-tech regions in the Netherlands.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the full industrialization trajectory. Your tasks include:

  • Translating an aesthetic concept into a production-ready mechanical design (CAD).

  • Applying value engineering to reduce costs and increase reliability.

  • Selecting suitable components, materials, and suppliers.

  • Leading supplier selection and evaluation in collaboration with procurement and operations.

  • Bringing technical expertise into production processes and manufacturing flows.

  • Ensuring compliance with laws, safety standards, and certifications (including CE marking).

  • Documenting the entire development process for traceability and quality assurance.

  • Actively participating in internal reviews and external discussions with partners and suppliers.

  • Designing according to Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) principles.

Must-haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • At least 5 years of experience in product development and industrialization, preferably in high-tech or precision systems.

  • Experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent), DfM, tolerance calculations, and material selection.

  • Proven track record of delivering production-ready designs in multidisciplinary teams.

  • Practical experience with supplier management, RFQ processes, and quality validation.

  • Strong communication skills in both technical and business contexts.

  • Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with specific certifications or industry standards (e.g., ISO, CE marking, FDA).

  • Experience in start-ups or industrial product introductions.

Competencies

We are looking for someone who is not only technically strong but also demonstrates the right behavioral competencies:

  • Adaptability – easily switch between concept development, supplier contact, and production planning in a dynamic environment.

  • Creativity – devise practical and innovative solutions to make designs scalable and cost-efficient.

  • Decisiveness – make clear choices in design and production processes, even under time pressure or uncertainty.

  • Independence – lead technical workstreams and take responsibility for critical design decisions.

  • Initiative – identify risks and opportunities early and act proactively to improve processes.

  • Analytical insight – understand complex technical challenges and translate them into clear, feasible solutions.

  • Listening skills – gather input from stakeholders and suppliers to achieve the best result.

  • Result orientation – always keep the end goals in mind: a reliable, scalable, and certified product. Aim for high quality without falling into perfectionism, and remain effective under time pressure.

  • Craftsmanship – deliver solid technical solutions to the highest standards.

What We Offer

  • A unique opportunity to contribute to the industrialization of a groundbreaking deeptech product transforming healthcare.

  • An innovative environment where technical excellence and entrepreneurship are central.

  • Room for personal and professional growth as the product scales into the market.

  • Working in one of the most technologically innovative regions in the Netherlands.
